Can the Ice Soften and Overflow?

Initially thought you may assume which an ice cube sitting at the same prime of the glass might eventually soften and spill more than the edges however is that this what very happens? Experiment and discover out ! 


What you will need : 

1. A transparent glass 
2. Warm water 
3. An ice cube 

Directions : 

1. Fill the glass to the highest along with heat water. 
2. Carefully lower inside the ice cube, ensuring you don’t bump the desk or spill any water during the edge from the glass. 
3. Watch the water degree properly like the ice cube melts, what happens? 

What is happening? 

Albeit the ice cube melted the water doesn’t overflow. When water freezes in order to make ice it expands and takes up a lot of area than it will as liquid water (that’s why water pipes typically burst throughout cold winters).
